For $5,000, owners of Model S and Model X vehicles can purchase a bundle from Tesla that includes three years of Full Self-Driving Supervised (FSD), Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity.
The EV manufacturer made this announcement in response to sales issues with its FSD package, which went up to $15,000 in 2022. It only slightly affected the price cut to $8,000 earlier this year. It reduced the cost of its FSD subscription from $199 to $99 a month a few months later.
Initially, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that the company would keep raising the FSD package costs as the system developed, guaranteeing that Tesla automobiles will turn into “appreciation assets.” He added that when all the features are added, the package will be worth more than $100,000.
The value of Tesla’s new bundle depends on charging habits
Your driving habits will determine whether or not this new bundle is worthwhile. Electrek calculated the entire cost over three years to $3,600, comparing it to an FSD-only membership that costs $99 a month. At $100 per year for Premium Connectivity, you can receive three years of Supercharging for $1,100.
Even while most Tesla owners charge their cars overnight at home, this new bundle is probably a better deal than the FSD standalone subscription for those who use the Supercharger network more frequently.
But, instead of choosing the three-year bundle for the additional benefits, purchasers who are already spending $70,000 to $90,000 on a Model X or Model S might simply add $3,600 to purchase FSD outright. Really, supercharging is only worthwhile if you use it more than 10 times a year on average.
Drivers in the US can now purchase Tesla’s new bundle, but it is not yet available in Canada.
