Since the team has been back in the Premier League for 22 years, Ipswich Town supporters everywhere are preparing for early mornings and late evenings.
The previous season saw the team promoted from the Championship. Their Premier League campaign begins at home against Liverpool.
More than 30,000 supporters will be present at the stadium, but there will also be a sizable international viewership, which includes Town supporters all over the world.
“I am grateful to my fiancée”
Will Thompson, originally from Woking, UK, will be watching the Liverpool match before his own wedding in Toronto, Canada. His father has been a Town supporter since he was a small child. Thompson intends to remain at a hotel in downtown Toronto and leave his wife, Laurel, in bed because he is five hours behind the UK.
A Liverpool pub in Toronto is showing the game early, attracting Ipswich fans for a 07:30 kick off. Mr. Thompson’s wedding starts at 16:00, and he hopes for a good game to carry positive vibes into the ceremony. For allowing him to attend the Saturday morning game, he thanks his fiancée Laurel. Although he acknowledges it will be difficult, he hopes for a draw with Liverpool.
“A proud moment for Town supporters”
Australian Scott Billison, 26, who first saw the promotion during a quick trip back to the UK, will be at Saturday night’s Perth Town match. He has seven hours on the opponent.
Mr. Billison plans to watch the first game of the season at a sports bar in Freemantle, despite not being able to see it in person. He is optimistic about the game and confident in manager Kieran McKenna, stating that it is a proud time to be a Town fan.
“Highly optimistic”
Darrell Jones, 58, a UK-based fan, expressed optimism for the first game of the Premier League against Manchester United. He intends to watch every home game, with the Premier League and Sky controlling the scheduling. Jones, a season ticket holder, flew to the UK on Thursday night and returned on Sunday.
“Preserve the custom”
Former television presenter Kate Czarnecki, known as Riley, helped establish the Ipswich Town supporters club in Singapore. Despite feeling nervous for the game, she plans to watch with the club, which currently has around 30 members.
Ipswich supporters watched Premier League games in the Penny Black bar last season because it was hard to find a place to watch a Championship game. The pub, traditionally a Newcastle pub, was chosen due to the great relationship between Ipswich and Newcastle, thanks to Sir Bobby Robson’s legacy. Around 30 Ipswich fans will be watching on Saturday.
“I only require three or four hours”
Christoffer Vårhus, a 28-year-old member of the Ipswich Town Supporters Club of Norway, plans to watch the first game in Ipswich from local pubs. Although he cannot travel due to work, he has secured some time off to watch the game. He plans to return to Ipswich later this year.
After reaching 50 years old last year, Christoffer Vårhus purchased his parents a ticket to see Everton play at Portman Road in October. His last game was against Huddersfield when they were promoted, and he talked about how excited and excited he was, saying it was the happiest day of his life.
