Last week, Valve released updates for the Steam Deck Beta Client, adding a number of new features to the portable gaming device.
The most notable innovation is the long-awaited ability to select a preset resolution for all games—a feature known as the global game resolution option. The former requirement to manually change the resolution for every game separately has been replaced with this new option, which streamlines the procedure. If necessary, players can still adjust the resolution specifically for each game.
Users must first update to the most recent version of Steam Deck Beta in order to use this function. To do this, go to System Settings, choose the System Update Channel option, and select “Beta.” After the update is finished, go to Settings > Display > Advanced to get the global resolution option.
To facilitate account switching, Valve also included a new Sign Out option to the Deck’s power menu in the same release.
The update also expands on the recently added game recording settings, allowing users to manage their recorded media through a new list view in the media manager, control the length and bitrate of background recordings, and enable or disable recording on a per-game basis.
In addition to these new features, Valve has updated its mobile device with a number of bug fixes and small enhancements. For instance, the controller configurator on the desktop overlay may now react to escape keystrokes correctly after the business fixed a bug with it. Additional updates take care of issues like the list view not refreshing when a game ends.
Users who have chosen to participate in the Steam Deck Beta or Preview channels can now get these improvements. It is probable that they will implement the stable version in the upcoming weeks.
Valve just announced that it will allow third-party portable gaming devices, like the Asus ROG Ally, to run SteamOS in other headlines concerning Steam Deck.
